Counselor Profile: Elysabeth Meehan, LCSW

My aim is to help clients find peace and purpose in their lives. Whether you are struggling with depression, anxiety, relationship problems, stress, grief, identity formation, religious/spiritual trauma or other emotional or mental health concerns, my goal is to come alongside you. We will work together to help identify your strengths and build coping skills. I typically utilize a strength based approach and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.

I have worked with clients of all ages. Currently, I am accepting clients aged 16 and above. I feel that my ability to present an alternative perspective, to reframe negative thoughts and to encourage clients to rely on their own strengths rather than focusing on negatives is helpful.

As an adoptee, adoptive parent and former foster parent, I specialize in working with families formed through foster care and/or adoption and with individuals who are part of the adoption triad. In addition, as a former minister, helping individuals process through religious and/or spiritual trauma is another specialty of mine. I truly believe that religious/spiritual struggles impact a person’s sense of identity, their core beliefs and values as well as how safe they feel in the world around them. I hope for each of my clients to be spiritually, emotionally and mentally healthy. My goal is to ensure that all parts of you feel welcome so that you are able to reclaim your voice, your autonomy and your ability to connect with the world around you.
