Counselor Profile: Danel Burchby, LCSW

Martin Luther King Jr. once said, “You don’t have to see the whole staircase, just take the first step.” I applaud you in taking the first step to be your best self.

I work with adults experiencing depression, OCD, phobias, anxiety, adjustment to life changes, family dysfunction, grief and loss, trauma, and individuals touched by adoption. I believe the therapeutic relationship is the key to successful therapy and I strive to provide a safe, non-judgmental environment and develop a trusting and collaborative relationship with each of my clients. I am passionate about helping you use and build your strengths to overcome barriers to meet your best potential so you can better prepare and take charge of your life.

My client centered approach is important to me because I believe that clients must feel heard, understood and helped. You are the expert in your journey to recovery. I am competent in a variety of treatment modalities including CBT, DBT, ERP, Prolonged Exposure, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Schema Therapy, and Family Systems.

My training and 20+ years of experience prepared me to work with people of all cultures, ethnic backgrounds, and identities. Part of my work with you will be to understand not only who you are as a person, but also how your background and experiences shape your life.

I enjoy working with individuals who are actively seeking to create positive change in their lives.

I grew up in the Valley, am married and have five children ranging from 24 to 6, the youngest adopted from Haiti. I received my Master’s Degree in Social Work at the University of Wisconsin – Oshkosh.
